During the Pre-Arrival Dog Visit we will discuss any training your dog may need, however you may have already been given advice on training your dog may need by the rescue centre or previous owner. Are you just about to rescue/get an adult dog and offer them a forever home? Depending on the circumstances surrounding the adoption you may not know much about your new family member’s start in life. Together, we can give them a Fresh Start. During the Pre-Dog Arrival meeting we will discuss what you do know about your new dog, identify any key training they may need and discuss how to make your new family member feel welcome in their new home, ease their transition and develop a lasting bond with them.

Pre-Dog Arrival Visit

All sessions are tailored to you and you will have the opportunity to ask as many questions as you like. The session will typically cover:

Toilet training (if needed) - how and where to train your dog in a kind and efficient way

Crate training - how this could provide a safe space for your dog

First Days (and nights!) - an idea of what you can expect in those early days and nights

Getting your home ready - top tips for dog proofing your house and garden

Your doggie dictionary - making sure you are all speaking the same language

Dog body language - what your dog is telling you with its body

Children and dog safety - what safe interactions look like and how to encourage them

Diet - advice on the different types of food available

Breed traits - how you can fulfil and enrich your dog’s life

Training - basic tips for training the essentials e.g. recall

Bonding - how to play with your dog to create a life long relationship of love and trust

Your dogs needs - what we know about your dog, what training it may need and how to ease their transition into their forever home
